Just a handful of weeks ago, the Nordhoff High School girls’ soccer team was not sure it would be able to compete at all this season, but now the Lady Rangers are 2-0 and looking like one of the top teams in the Citrus Coast League.

For the second time in as many weeks, the Nordhoff High School football team impressed with a lopsided victory over a Citrus Coast League opponent. In week one, the Rangers blew past the Santa Paula Cardinals, 48-0, and last Friday night they topped the Carpinteria Warriors 50-14.

Like most coaches these days, Nordhoff High School boys’ basketball coach Scott Hannah is trying to plan this year’s basketball season around many of his athletes playing multiple sports. While some local teams have already gotten in some games, the Rangers have been cleared to play, but they are hoping to get in some practice sessions before their first games.

Thanks to the efforts of players like Beck Zimmerman (shown here killing a set from Jaden Parker against Buena High), the Nordhoff Rangers are 2-0 on the season. NHS recently defeated Ventura High School 3-0 to remain unbeaten on the young season. Brody Broumand had 11 kills and 12 digs, Parker had 7 kills, 3 blocks, and 10 assists and Zimmerman had 6 kills, 7 aces, and 10 digs.

Nordhoff High junior Zac Sheets contains Santa Paula’s Jovon Grandison in last Friday night’s 48-0 defeat of the Cardinals. Sheets had a huge night for the Rangers, recording 18 tackles and an interception.

The Ojai Heatwave swimmers traveled to Santa Clarita to compete for the first time since the COVID-19 shutdown. Several members of the team managed to set new personal best times despite the long break from competitive swimming.
On March 21, the Ojai Heatwaves returned to their first USA Swimming Sanctioned Swim Meet at the Santa Clarita Aquatics Center since the pandemic forced a 13-month break from competition.
